Trip Itinerary:

Day 1: Santiago

Meeting upon arrival, transfer to hotel. After some time to relax your guide will meet you at the hotel for your “Santiaguino” city tour. Head underground as you board Santiago’s Metro; first stop, view the gigantic murals of local artists displayed at the Universidad de Chile for a piece of Chile’s rich urban culture. Stop at one Santiago’s local café’s and enjoy a “cafè con piernas” which means coffee with legs, a delicious coffee tasting experience. Next you will visit the Central Market to eat lunch in one of the many restaurants where the locals eat. After lunch continue to the San Cristobal Hill, board the traditional funicular (cable car) and ascend to the top for breathtaking views of the city. After, walk through the streets of Bellavista also know as Chile’s bohemian district; time to walk and discover Santiago’s history and culture. After a full day of living like a local it’s time to relax at a local bar for a refreshing drink called “The Terremoto”. ( L)

Day 2: Santiago / Maipo Valley / Santiago

After breakfast, drive to the Maipo Valley which is the closest wine producing region to Santiago. Maipo is best known for its well-balanced red wines. Arrive at Cousiño Macul Winery located on the slops of the Andes Mountains. Tour the cellars that were built in 1872, learn about the history of the Cousiño family and one of the oldest and finest Chilean wine cellar. Time for some tastings before enjoying lunch in a local restaurant. Continue to the village of Pirque, famous for its production of red wine. Visit Concha y Toro Winery; founded in 1883, today it is the largest exporter of Chilean wine. Enjoy the manicured gardens, the cellars and the vineyards which were planted by the original owner. Tastings before returning back to Santiago. (BL)

Day 3: Santiago / Aconcagua Valley / Santiago

After breakfast we head north of Santiago through the mountains to the Aconcagua Valley. Perched high above the valley is South Americas tallest mountain, Aconcagua (22,828 feet), that is eternally snow caped and is a beautiful contrast to the green valley below. The Aconcagua Valley set on the slops of the Andes Mountains has a mild Mediterranean climate and produces some of Chiles best wines. Visit the cellars of Viña San Esteban, the vineyards are situated along the Aconcagua River and nestled in the foothills. Enjoy a tasting before we drive to the west side of the valley for a visit to the Errazuriz Winery. Errazuriz has been producing some of the highest quality of wines for more than 130 years. Tour the underground cellars and vineyards. After time for lunch and a tasting of their wines. Return to Santiago. (BL)

Day 4: Santiago / Casablanca Valley / Valparaiso

Today we depart Santiago and head towards the Casablanca Valley which started planting in the mid eighties but quickly caught the worlds attention. With its cool coastal climate the region produces a crisp chardonnay as well as classic pinot noir and Sauvignon Blanc. Arrival at the world famous Matetic Vineyard which run perpendicular to the Pacific Ocean; its ideal weather and topography has allowed the vineyard to excel in producing both reds and whites. Tour the vineyard along with a tasting and lunch. After lunch we depart for the coastal city of Vina del Mar, visit the cities most interesting attractions before arriving in today’s final destination, Valparaiso. (BL)

Day 5: Valparaiso / Santiago

Today a tour of the city of Valparaíso, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is colorful, poetic and a hard working bohemian port town. Our first stop will be Plaza Sotomayor, the main square near the Chilean Navy Headquarters. Board one of Valparaiso’s elevators called El Peral to the higher parts of town where you will walk through the streets and alleys. Continuing to the Concepcion Hill, Paseo Gervasoni and Paseo Atkinson. Then experience Valparaíso’s most traditional transportation, the Trolley Bus. Next board one of the several classic ships for a cruise around the bay, which is home to sea lion colonies. Enjoy lunch in a local restaurant before returning to Santiago but not before one additional tasting at the Casas del Bosque Winery, a winery dedicated to the production of white wine. (BL)

Day 6: Santiago / Santa Cruz

After breakfast we drive south to the Colchagua Valley one of Chile’s best known wine regions and has earned much applause for its full-bodied Cabernet, Syrah, and Malbec. Visit the Colchagua Museum which has one of the most important collections of Pre-Hispanic art in Chile and a significant display of artifacts from the Chilean colonial period. Lunch in a local vineyard followed by some tastings before arriving at the Santa Cruz Vineyard and hotel. Tonight visit the Astronomical Observatory and discover the stars and constellations of the southern hemisphere. (BL)

Day 7: Santa Cruz / Santiago

Today we explore the countryside and the little village of Lolol where you can visit a local Museum to learn about local traditions and folklore. Enjoy lunch in a local restaurant before return to the airport in Santiago to fly home or to your next destination. (BL)
