Classic Brazil Trip Itinerary:

Day 1: Rio de Janeiro

Welcome to Rio de Janeiro and your Classic Brazil trip! Rio, also know as “Cidade Maravilhosa, The Wonderful City” is nestled between the mountains and the sea and is home to the worlds best carnival celebration. Meeting and transfer to your hotel. This afternoon enjoy the breathtaking landscape and the incredible relaxed vibe that Rio is know for as we set out to discover the world famous beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema where it would be hard to imagine a better place to people watch. Continue to the base of Sugar Loaf Mountain and ride the cable car to the top and enjoy the city from a birds eye view.

Day 2: Rio de Janeiro

This morning explore one of Wonders of the World, The statue of Christ the Redeemer crowning the top of Corcovado mountain offering stunning views of Guanabara Bay, Sugar Loaf and the beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema below. The adventure starts with a train ride that zig zags its way up through the lush Tijuca Rainforest where its possible see monkeys and parrots in the trees. Once on top you will have ample time to admire the views. Remainder of day at leisure to explore on your own. (B)

Day 3: Rio de Janeiro

Day at leisure to relax on the beach or explore on your own. Optional tours available. (B)

Day 4: Rio de Janeiro / Salvador

After breakfast transfer to airport, your Classic Brazil trip is taking you on the road! Meeting upon arrival in Salvador, Brazils original colonial capital that has retained its history and African folk culture. Tonight visit the Miguel Santana Theatre located in the Pelourinho district for a traditional folklore show that highlights the African-Bahian culture, samba-de-roda, regarded as the most traditional form of samba and maculelê, a typical dance from Brazil and other forms of dance. After the show enjoy dinner at a local restaurant with typical Bahian food (tour not available on Sundays and Tuesdays). (BD)

Day 5: Salvador

After breakfast we will head out to explore the historical side of Salvador. Visit the Old Quarter with its historical relics, magnificent churches, unusual art and colonial architecture. Afternoon at leisure to explore on your own. (B)

Day 6: Salvador

Enjoy a day at leisure to explore on your own or perhaps take an optional tour to a nearby cocoa plantations, cigar factory, or unique colonial towns of Cachoeira and Santo Amaro. (B)

Day 7: Salvador / Iguassu Falls

Transfer to airport. Meeting upon arrival in Iguassu Falls, one of the most magnificent natural wonders in the world, spanning more than 2 miles in length and over 275 thundering cascades will leave you in total awe. You’re going to love this day on your Classic Brazil trip! Transfer to hotel, then set out on a walking tour of the Brazilian side of the falls and enjoy the stunning overlooks offering some of the best panoramic views of the falls. Next we will explore by jeep the Macuco Trail that is located inside Iguaçu National Park. Along the trail you will discover several different species of sub-tropical trees and plants including orchids and the heart-of-palm, which grows in abundance in the park. With luck, animals and some of the many beautiful birds of the region may be sighted before we arrive at the banks of the Iguaçu River. Here you will board boat specially designed for the river’s conditions. Cruise through the Iguassu Canyon, splashing over rapids before arriving at the base of the majestic waterfalls providing a completely different view of the falls. Return to hotel for overnight. (B)

Day 8: Iguassu Falls

Today we visit the Argentine side of the falls for an extensive tour of the falls and the surrounding rainforest. Board the jungle train and walk along a series of catwalks to the famous Devil Throat, the largest of the waterfalls and look directly down into the abyss below. Fell the power of the water as it rushes over the edge and the mist as it shoots back up from the cavern below. Continue aboard the jungle train to different vantage points offering amazing views of the falls. Return to your hotel late in the afternoon. (B)

Day 9: Iguassu Falls

Morning at leisure to explore on your own, at the appropriate time transfer to the airport. This concludes your Classic Brazil tour! (B)
